I graduated magna cum laude from Appalachian State University with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. Later, I earned my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My work experiences range from inpatient/outpatient treatment center for teens and adults, battered women's shelter, The Multiple Sclerosis Society, community counseling agency, Employee Assistance Program and supervising students getting their Masters in Social Work. I worked at United Family Services in Charlotte and Concord, NC providing counseling to individuals, couples and families, as well as, supervising masters levels students and staff. I later attended New York University to earn two certificate courses in executive leadership and advanced clinical practice. I also worked for two years at Hunter School of Social Work as a field advisor to master level students. Currently, I am serving as a board member at the UNC School of Social Work.
